In physics and mathematics, a sequence of N numbers can be understood to represent a location in an N-dimensional space. When N=5, the space consisting of all locations with a nonzero fifth number is called the fifth dimension.

Abstract five-dimensional space occurs frequently in mathematics, and is a perfectly legitimate construct. Whether or not the real universe in which we live is somehow five-dimensional is a topic that is debated and explored in several branches of physics, including astrophysics and particle physics.

In physics, the fifth dimension is a hypothetical extra dimension beyond the usual three spatial dimensions and one time dimension of Relativity. Samuel F.B. Enso Launcher is YAKAL (yet another keyboard application launcher) from Humanized. Where Enso sets itself apart is in the fact that the application puts a big focus on design and staying out of your way. In fact, Enso Launcher doesn't have a window, but instead layers itself over top of what you're currently doing, allowing you to stay in context.

Enso does have a couple of interesting tricks up it's sleeve that other launcher's don't. It allows you to jump from any application right into a specific open tab in Firefox, by naming the page by it's title. I absolutely fell in love with this feature, until it became clear that it was flaky on my system; it seemed to fail to recognize that the tab I was requesting actually existed. I'm sure that's a quirk of my system, but in the end it didn't "just work".

The computer being used for this review of TuneUp Utilities 2009 is a Dell Optiplex with an Intel Core 2 Duo 6300 processor running at 1.86GHz with 1.00 GB of memory running Windows Vista Ultimate. It is a pretty quick computer but it has been abused a bit while testing and reviewing products. Let’s see how much more performance we can get out of this system.

The Windows Task Manager is always a good tool to use to check for PC performance. Before using the TuneUp 2009 utility, the task manager was reporting 438 Megabytes of used Memory and 784 Megabyte of Page File usage.
